Facebook is developing a new option to invite a co-author for your Reels clips
Facebook continues to develop the functionality of Facebook Reels, this time through a new Collaborative Reels optionwhich would provide a way for users invite another user to co-author a ReelIt’s clips.
As you can see in this example, posted by app researcher Alexander Paluzzi, Facebook is currently developing a new ‘Invite Contributor’; option in the Reel creation flow, which would allow you to add another profile as a co-creator to appear in your clip.
Which, actually, is not a big surprise. Facebook parent company Meta has been exploring a range of new options to help maximize exposure opportunities for creators, including Creator collaborations on Facebook, which allow multiple creators to be included in a single Facebook post, and ‘Collaborations’ on Instagram – which is essentially this exact experiment, but on IG Reels and news posts.
So you’ve pretty much already built the back-end infrastructure for this, you just haven’t moved it over to Facebook Reels as well.
But it seems that soon it will, and with more 50% of the user’s time on Facebook now spent on video content, and Reels consumption is increasing rapidly, it could be a good consideration to help maximize exposure through influencer and brand associations.
Maybe that allows your brand to take advantage of Reels, without having to create them yourself.
It’s still early days, no official word yet on the experiment, which, it’s worth noting, hasn’t been released for public testing.
We will keep you informed of any progress.
