TikTok announces new partnership with Linktree to facilitate more referral traffic options

TikTok has announced a new partnership with Linktree which will provide TikTok creators with more options for referral links, integrated directly into their TikTok profile, helping to drive more referral traffic from the app.

TikTok link tree

To be clear, TikTok creators have always been able to add Linktree links in their TikTok bio, to help provide more options for profile visitors to connect with. But this new integration will further enhance the experience, making it easier to connect between the two platforms.

The association will be integrated into TikTokProfile Kit’ element TikTok for developers Program, which allows developers to build tools on top of the TikTok platform to facilitate better integration and functionality.

Again, while you can add Linktree links in your TikTok bio As always, the newly integrated Linktree offering will bring more options, including the ability to log in to your TikTok accounts through Linktree and display up to six videos on your Linktree screen.

Creators will also be able to display their most recent or most popular videos, or manually select the videos they want to display within their bio link.

And according to Linktree, TikTok is already one of the most linked platforms from their tool, with Linktree profiles driving more than five million visits to TikTok every day.

Given its popularity with TikTok users, it makes sense that Linktree would try to capitalize on it and increase its exposure and usage, although it’s also interesting to note that Instagram is developing its own multi-link features for profiles, which will essentially eat into the business of Linktree.

Instagram multiple links in bio

As has been well documented, the two platforms tend to follow each other’s lead, so it’s interesting to see them both going in different directions here.

For IG, it’s still working to improve its offering to creators, and adding additional linking options on profiles is another way to improve that, providing more options for people to link to other platforms and profiles from their IG presence.

TikTok’s partnership with Linktree will facilitate the same, but it’s also looking to add more display options within Linktree to essentially add more backlinks to your app.

What could be a better approach, instead of trying to negate Linktree and other linking tools? The two approaches are almost the opposite of each other, though it will be interesting to see if IG looks to do the same in the future.
